Ten More Cities Included in Naya Pakistan Scheme

The federal government on Monday decided to include 10 more cities from Punjab in the ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.

Cities which are being included:

The cities which are being included in the housing scheme are:

  • Lahore
  • Kasur
  • Sialkot
  • Jhelum
  • Bahawalpur
  • Layyah
  • Multan
  • Vehari
  • Rahim Yar Khan
  • Gujranwala

The project:

Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan unveiled his government’s “Flagship” project. It is called Naya Pakistan Housing Programme. It is aimed at constructing five million houses for the low-income segments of society during the next five years.

Ten More Cities Included in Naya Pakistan Scheme

PM Imran Khan hoped that the successful implementations of the programme would not only boost the country’s economy but also create immense job opportunities.

“We want to build houses for those who ordinarily do not even dream of owning a house, as they fall in low-income group and barely manage to find a shelter.” PM Imran had said.

Registration forms for the scheme are available on the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) website.

Where to get the forms?

The forms can also be obtained from the District Housing Programme Office from 22nd of this month.

At the launch of the scheme, PM has announced that the government would provide the land, facilitate and remove bottlenecks.

The scheme would be under a public-private partnership and all houses that are constructed would contain all basic amenities.

The first phase of the project:

In the first phase, the project will start in:

  • Islamabad
  • Sukkar
  • Gilgit
  • Muzaffarabad
  • Quetta
  • Swat
  • Faisalabad

Federal Housing Taskforce and the government of Punjab have completed the initial preparations for the project. The scheme’s pilot project in Faisalabad is currently underway.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he will supervise the project himself vowing.  It shows that the programme will not only provide affordable housing for the poor. It will also create employment opportunities in the country.

“A special housing authority would be established in three months to serve as one window for all construction related formalities. A task force would look after the housing project until then,” he added.
