Govt. Approves Rs. 5 Per Unit Reduction In Electricity Prices
ISLAMABAD: The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a reduction of Rs 5 per unit in electricity prices for commercial and domestic consumers using up to 700 units per month for four months under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package.
It should be noted that the reduction in electricity prices will not apply to lifeline consumers.
The ECC meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen in which the ECC also made payments to oil refineries in the form of price differential claims under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package by reducing the prices of petroleum products by Rs 10 per liter.
The ECC also approved the release of a technical supplementary grant of Rs. 428.9 million to the Foreign Ministry for convening the OIC Foreign Ministers Conference.
It also approved the issuance of technical supplementary grant of Rs. 135.78 billion for payment of principal and interest on New Pakistan Certificates and Islamic New Pakistan Certificates issued by the government.
