Increase of foreign investment in Pakistan

Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) attracted the highest amount of  100 million in foreign investment in March alone, reflecting the attention of foreign investors seeking a return of up to 10%.

The latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Wednesday shows that foreign investors invested Rs 246.90 crore in PIB during the July-March period of the financial year 2021. Invested a thousand dollars.

Bankers noted that investment in PIBs and treasury bills (up to  3.5 billion) accelerated within three months after the outbreak of COD-19 epidemics in Pakistan last year.

Cases of the corona virus have been on the rise since last month, and the government has imposed smart lockdowns in many areas, but trade and industry remain open.

The arrival of PIBs reflects the fact that investors are not afraid of the epidemic spreading in the country.

PIBs earned  103.09 million in March, the highest revenue this fiscal year.

In February this year, PIBs attracted 37.6 million.

For bankers, the growing influx of PIBs is a reflection of better confidence in Pakistan’s economy, especially the current account surplus, which has further boosted their confidence.

However, some bankers said that the biggest thing that caught their attention was the 10% return on PIBs because nowhere in the world is there so much profit available that is backed by an sovereign guarantee.

PIB details show that the highest investment of 115.2 million was made from the United States during the July-March fiscal year 2021.

In March alone, US investment was 23.6 million.

It should be noted that the profit on PIBs is much higher than the current interest rate offered in the United States.
