Prime Minister Imran Khan is all set to fulfill his commitment to building a social net for poor citizens. He has arrived in Lahore on Saturday.
The PM is laying the foundation stone for a shelter project in Lahore. It is the first of five in Lahore.
Five spots will be allocated to the homeless. These spots will be made in the areas where people arrive from outside the city to seek employment.
“We are committed to building a social net for our poor citizens so everyone has a shelter over their head and access to health and education.”
“We have resources but are not concerned with the homeless because they are not our vote bank,” PM said.

While speaking to the guests at the event, the Prime Minister said that today we are taking the first step for the welfare of the people.
“The government is launching such a project which had never came before,”he added.
Prime Minister said that it was Allama Iqbal’s and Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s dream to make Pakistan a model Islamic state.
“We have spent two and a half months in facing the deficits and loan crisis. But now the country has come out of the loan crisis, so all efforts will be put in public-welfare projects. Soon we will show you the progress of the 100 Days Agenda.”
Chief Minister’s performance:
The Prime Minister has also praised Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for his work. He said that he appointed Usman Buzdar after seeing which area he came from. His area and house did not have electricity and there was no hospital there. These people realize what difficulties are.
He congratulated the Chief Minister on the project and said:
“This reminds me of the time when I used to lead the cricket team and used to select players who went on to become Wasim Akram and Inzamam-ul-Haq. This will be just like that.”
He further appreciated by saying,
“I told him (Usman Buzdar) once and he himself went and saw all the sites for the shelter and selected them.”
Work on the building has started and the government will launch this project in 7 days. This project is said to be a coordinated effort of all organizations working towards the alleviation of poverty.
“We have said that we will present our full performance to the country in 100 days and the most important part of that is the poverty alleviation package.”
The Shelter Building will be based on a “state of the art” design. It will be designed simply and will have the availability of various facilities.
To ensure the best usage of the place, it will also include multi-purpose halls for imparting training and holding of public awareness programs.
