A functional WiFi and tracking System is ready for Pakistani trains
The Pakistani Trains had the WiFi before this Govt but it didn’t work. But now it will.
Pakistan Railways is ready to launch Wi-Fi and Online tracking system facility for the travelers and the freight trains within almost 3 months.
Previously, WiFi was already available on the trains but the internet was not functional. So the internet will now be functional and also there will be a tracking system.
The Railway Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said,
Expatriates Pakistanis are offering free of cost services to Pakistan. The services will be for providing Wi-Fi and online tracking facility in trains.
Sheikh Rashid informed this while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Railways along with Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo.
How will the tracking work?
Asad Ali Khan Junejo has made an effective recommendation. It suggests that Pakistan Railways can provide smartphones to the train drivers, in which the software can be installed to track the trains.
The Minister assured the Committee that Pakistan Railways will make all-out efforts to install tracking system in all trains shortly.
Furthermore, the minister said that soon the economy class trains will have air conditioners thus it is necessary to increase the fares.
What does the minister say?
Sheikh Rashid said,
“We are going to build a track between Sukkar and Karachi as per the expectations of the people as we did not pay attention on tracks across the country”
What more is there?
Pakistan Railway is planning to launch a new affordable train specifically for low income people called ‘Rehman Baba”.
The aim of the train is to facilitate those people who cannot afford to travel via expensive trains or other modes of transport.
Pakistan Railways is offering free of cost tickets for over 75 year old persons. PR is also offering a 50 percent discount for people over 65 years.
25 percent discount on tickets for disabled persons for its passenger trains.
Pakistan Railway Advisory and Consultancy Services (PRACS) generated over Rs 706 million during 2017-2018 and projected to increase it to over Rs 861 million by end 2018-2019.
E-Ticketing project, which was started 12 years ago by Pakistan Railways, is now selling around one million tickets per day.
Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid said, it was the vision of the present government to provide WiFi and tracking system facility to the passengers and Pakistan Railway will provide these facilities in the freight trains too.
The Minister said that the important decisions regarding the Railway upgrades would be taken in the next 60 days.
