Due to the success of reforms, IPRI is now not only recognized as one of the top think tanks in Pakistan but is acknowledged as one of the leading global think tanks in national security and foreign policy. It has recently been ranked No. 74 in the category “2020 Best Government- Affiliated Think Tanks” of “Global Go To Think Tank Index Report” by Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP), Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania, which ranks the world’s leading think tanks.

It is unique for a Pakistani think tank to be included in this category of prestigious think tank rankings – making Pakistan and its institutions proud. Moreover, IPRI’s reform journey is a testament to a national success story and could well serve as a case study for institutional change and reform in Pakistan for other departments to adopt.

The Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) is one of the oldest non-partisan think-tanks on all facets of National Security including international relations, strategic studies, governance & public policy, and lawfare & economy in Pakistan. Founded in 1999, IPRI is housed at the National Security Division (NSD), Government of Pakistan. Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on NSD and Strategic Policy Planning, is Ex-Officio Patron of IPRI. It exemplifies two decades of rigorous and timely analysis of crucial strategic agendas and inter-governmental processes that influence national and regional policy community.

Recognised for its objectivity and policy relevance, IPRI’s publications offer current, up-to-date and high quality research in the form of authoritative journals, books, monographs and policy briefs. The Institute’s events vary from seminars on current international and national affairs to large-scale international conferences that attract renowned leaders, academics and policymakers from all over the world.
