Mirpur Mathelo accident – Protesters attacked Bilawal’s convoy

  • Residents of Mirpur Mathelo attacked Bilawal’s convoy for not providing any assistance in retrieving bodies of five persons drowned in the Mirpur Mathelo accident.
  • The protesters chanted slogans against Bilawal and also broke the windscreen of a vehicle in the caravan.
  • PPP urged the police and rangers to take notice of this incident and held the government responsible for the disruption of Bilawal’s caravan.

Residents of Mirpur Mathelo staged a protest against the local administration.

The protest was staged for not providing any assistance in retrieving bodies of five persons drowned in Masu Vah Canal, stopped Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s convoy.

The protesters were of the view that the local administration is not sending rescue teams to retrieve dead bodies of five persons from the canal but is busy in protocol duty during Bilawal Bhutto’s visit.

The protestors stopped Bilawal’s rally, chanted slogans against him and attacked him with stones and also broke the windscreen of a vehicle in the caravan.

The Accident:

A passenger coach overturned in Ghotki Sunday morning killed two people and 10 injured. This happened on the National Highway near the city of Mirpur Mathelo.

FIR against the protesters:

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed against unidentified persons, for rioting during the electoral rally of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Following the incident, Bilawal Bhutto took to Twitter, to talk about what had happened:

PPP urges to take notice:

Bilawal’s spokesperson, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has remarked that the PPP’s rally was quite peaceful and parties who engage in politics of violence won’t be able to stop our way.

The spokesperson urged the district administration, police, and rangers to take notice of this incident and issue directions to finish hurdles in way of politician’s election campaign. Furthermore, the PPP leadership held the government responsible for the disruption of Bilawal’s caravan.
