NAB to start investigations against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
- NAB will soon start investigation Shahid Khaqan Abbasi against LNG and ENGRO case.
- The SBP asks for bank details of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with 29 other people including his family too.
- On the investment of$130million only, Mr. Khaqan is getting a profit amount of $1.5billion daily.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is having the arrest warrants of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and he is currently not seen on the screens.
Mr. Shahid said:
“If arrested, I will not even ask for bail.”
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) sent a letter to banks of Pakistan and asked to make inquiries against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) case was registered in 2015 against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for importing contract which caused a potential $2 billion loss to the national exchequer.
In violation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules and relevant laws, the contract for the LNG import and distribution was awarded to the Elengy Terminal in 2013.
The ENGRO Case:
The most important case is the ENGRO case in which Shahid gave terminal to the company. Given at 44% profit, this contract is referred to as the worst contract in Pakistan’s history. For the next 15 years, Mr. Khaqan will be given $2.72miilion daily.
It is pertinent to mention here that the total investment was $130million but against it, Mr. Khaqan will get $15billion for the next 15 years.
The investment was completed in the first year and now he will keep getting the profit amount for the next 14 years.
The State Bank of Pakistan has sent a letter to the banks of Pakistan asking to provide details of Mr. Khaqan’s bank accounts. Additionally, the State Bank also asked banks to provide details of Shahid’s family also.
In the letter, the SBP asked for bank details of 29 people including:
- Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
- Samina Shahid
- Abdul Khaqan Abbasi
- Haider Khaqan Abbasi
- Nadir Khaqan Abbasi
- Sadia Khaqan Abbasi
Furthermore, names of Daniyal, Khusro, Sheikh Imran-ul-Haq, Amna Haq and Seema Haq also included in the list.
Let’s see whether Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would ask for bail or not and when the NAB would sign the investigations and make further proceedings against him.
