A spokesman of the agriculture department said that rice crop is being cultivated in Punjab by cultivating 4.398 million acres of land. 3.415 million tons of rice has been cultivated on 4.398 million acres. He said that Rice Research Institute has introduced 22 varieties of rice out of which 13 varieties are being cultivated in Punjab.

He said that out of the production of 6 million tons of rice, Pakistan exports 1.5 million tons of rice to different countries of the world, thus Pakistan has reached the fourth position in the list by exporting 4 million tons of rice to different countries.
