Pakistan gets stronger on diplomatic front as Emir of Qatar pays a historic visit.
- Qatar’s Emir is on a two-day visit to Pakistan to sign various agreements.
- After Saudi Arabia, the second biggest investment in Pakistan is going to take place.
- The relationship between Qatar and Pakistan will be enhanced more.
At the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has arrived on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
Al-Thani together with a high-level delegation landed at Islamabad’s Noor Khan air-base. A red carpet was rolled out for him. PM Imran and senior ministers of his Cabinet received the Qatari emir. A 21-gun salute upon his arrival was also given.
During his stay in Islamabad, Al Thani will hold talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi. Ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership will be discussed.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU):
Enhanced bilateral cooperation:
Enhanced bilateral cooperation contracts in different areas are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha.PM Imran Khan earlier in a statement said that the Qatari emir will announce an investment of $22 billion for Pakistan spanning different sectors.
MoU of establishing Joint Working Group:
An agreement on the establishment of Pakistan and Qatar Joint Working Group (JWG) on trade and investment is also signed by Finance Minister of State of Qatar Ali Shareef Al Emadi and Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.
MoU of tourism and business events:
MoU for cooperation in the field of tourism and business events are also signed between Qatar and Pakistan.
MoU of cooperation in the field of exchange of financial intelligence:
MoU on the establishment of cooperation in the field of exchange of financial intelligence related to money laundering and terrorism financing is also signed by Al Thani.
After Saudi Arabia, this is the second major investment in Pakistan. “The visit will further enhance our already good relations,” Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said.
