PCB to Introduce a Long-Term Plan to Enhance the performance
- A long-term plan to enhance the working of the PCB will be introduced.
- The overall performance of the board and its allied departments will be evaluated on a yearly basis.
- Within the next five years, PCB will become the world’s top cricket board – Managing director PCB says.
The managing director of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Wasim Khan announced to introduce a long-term plan to enhance the working of the PCB.
Wasim said in the long-term plan, all departments of the Board will be judged on the basis of their performance.
While talking to media at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Wasim said:
“A long-term plan has been evolved by introducing a performance-based formula to assess the working of every department at the PCB.”
He said that the Board is very clear about its development plan and only the right people for the right job will be reserved at the PCB.
Different Targets for Each Department:
The managing director said that PCB will set different targets for each department and will evaluate the overall performance of the board as well as its allied departments on a yearly basis.
He said this is being done in order to know where we stand as compared to other cricket boards that are role models for us due to their high-quality performance and managerial policies.
Formation of National Selection Committee:
The managing director told the media that Pakistan Cricket Board is planning the formation of the national selection committee and appointing new coaching staff.
Models for Selection Committee:
Wasim said that PCB is considering two models for the selection committee, the first is the existing chairman with some members and the second is to include six provincial teams’ head coaches that will give their input to the chief selector. However, it isn’t final yet.
He said that the new chief selection chief will be a person with a good reputation and played a good number of international matches.
The Next Edition of PSL:
Talking about the next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Wasim said the PCB has decided to hold all matches of the 2020 PSL in Pakistan as holding the entire PSL in Pakistan will revive international cricket in the country. Further, he said that the board is also planning to add Rawalpindi and Multan to hold PSL 2020.
The new Domestic System:
For this, he said that PCB is waiting for approval of its patron, Prime Minister Imran Khan and PCB officials would soon meet the PM.
Main Priorities of PCB:
The managing director said the ICC Test championship and the 2020 T20 World Cup are the main priorities of the PCB.
“Pakistan Cricket Board is on track to become the world’s top cricket board in the next five years.”
He emphasized that the board will work with players and will also groom them to become the captain and vice-captain of junior and senior teams.
