Government’s initiative to promote tourism, Swat’s Saidu Sharif Airport opened for domestic flights.

PIA resumes flights to Swat after 17-year hiatus According to the spokesperson of the national airline, PIA has scheduled two flights a week to Swat. The spokesman said that on March 26, the first flight of PIA after 17 years would land at Saidu Sharif Airport in Swat via Lahore via Islamabad.

It may be recalled that Saidu Sharif Airport was closed for flights in 2004.

The main purpose of resuming flights to Swat is to promote the tourism trend in the region, for which the present government is making every effort.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan said in this regard that Pakistan is not getting anything compared to Turkey and Malaysia which earn twenty to forty billion dollars annually from tourism despite having excellent tourist destinations. Tourists will come only when the tourist destinations are equipped with the necessary facilities.
