- The Sharif family will have to present the money trail of assets abroad, only then they will be set free.
The federal government has relieved Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik from his duties following his alleged involvement in a video scandal.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) had requested in a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice to relieve Arshad Malik from his duties.
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister FaroghNaseem told: “The Law Ministry has barredArshadMalik from working as a judge.”
However, the Law Minister clarified that the Al-Aziziareference will not be reversed unless the IHC decides that the verdict was issued under pressure.
He said any video leak cannot suppress the verdict of the accountability court against Sharif Family until convicted persons provide a money trail to the court.
“Nobody can deny the existence of the Avenfield apartments and the merits of the case cannot be changed. However, if anyone has concerns he can approach the court and prove his innocence,” he added.
As Judge Arshad Malik in his affidavit had said that he gave a free and fair judgment on merit and if he wanted to pass the judgment under pressure then he would not free members of the Sharif family in one case and convict them in the other.
The Law Minister said, according to the affidavit of Arshad Malik, Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz offered him RS50 Crore in bribe along with settlement abroad. Over refusal, he gave him life threats.
“If a person tries to obstruct court proceedings or threatens judiciary then under Section 31-A of the National Accountability Ordinance, 10-year imprisonment can be awarded to that person,” the Minister said.
According to Judge’s affidavit, the Sharif family is like a mafia that used every tactic to get favorable judgments. They tried to threaten the Accountability Court Judge. Further, the judge also met Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind, where Nasir Butt again threatened him make a decision in their favor.
The government will stand by the judiciary and will not victimize anyone but will not tolerate manipulation of the judiciary. The govt will not allow anyone to force the judiciary. The Law Ministry and Prime Minister cannot free Nawaz Sharif, only the court of law can free him if he provides a money trail.
The Law Ministry clearly said that NAB cannot do anything regarding the sentence and that the sentence cannot be or changed in any way until Islamabad High Court takes a decision.
Only the Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Courts can give an answer to Sharif’s troubles. These high courts can set aside their sentences, but for that, the Sharif family will have to present the money trail of assets abroad.
