Punjab Government considering to End VIP class in Jails

The Government of Punjab mulling over to end VIP class facilities to the prisoners in the jails of the province.
According to details, the government is serious about taking the initiative to suspend the VIP class in jails.
In this regard, the Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja will chair a meeting to mull over the matter next week.
In the meeting, the recommendations from the IG Prisons will be reviewed in order to end the VIP class from the jails.
In VIP class, a prisoner is allowed to have TV, AC, Fridge, Personal Bed, home food, and other facilities while being in jail. Usually, the prisoners pay the expenses of facilities with the permission of the jail department.
In Pakistan, politicians are given B-class facilities in jails. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifis are also given the B-class facilities.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader RanaSanaullah is also given B-class facilities in Camp Jail Lahore.
The jail manual said B-class facilities included a newspaper, television, bed, table, and chair, besides some other items.
According to the jail manual, all facilities are provided according to including proper arrangements for taking prisoners to courts for hearings.
For skill development of prisoners, tailoring classes are arranged while arrangements have also been made for computer training.
For providing health facilities to the prisoners, a doctor is deputed while specialists visiting on different days.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry said that the leaders of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) are demanding special treatment and facilities in the jail.
The government, under the leadership of Imran Khan, has a clear vision to plug out the roots of corruption from society. He said equality and justice would be observed across the board and there is no difference between the elite or lower class.
