Exports rose 8.2 percent to 2.35 billion in December 2020
Exports in December 2020 stood at 2.35 billion, up 8.2 per cent. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released trade figures for the first half of the current financial year.
Exports increased by 5% to 12.9 billion in the July-December period of the current fiscal year, compared to 11.52 billion in the same period last fiscal year. Imports stood at 520 million, up from 23.19 billion in the same period last fiscal.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, imports during the last one month stood at 5.3 billion. The trade deficit increased during the first half of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.
In the first six months of the current financial year, the trade deficit widened to more than 12.42 billion, compared to 11.67 billion in the first half of the previous fiscal year.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan inaugurated the Sui Gas Supply Project in Darya Khan and received a warm welcome on his arrival in Darya Khan.
MPA Amir Mohammad Khan along with officials of The sui Northern Gas briefed the Federal Minister.
Talking on the occasion, Federal Minister Imran Ayub said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, efforts are being made to solve the collective problems. Sui gas is being brought for Darya Khan at a cost of Rs. 76 crore. The PDM and the opposition parties are busy hiding their thefts. The PDM’s bubble has burst.
Authorities have been issued orders to increase gas pressure.
MNA Sanaullah Khan Mustikhel said that the present government is taking important steps towards construction and development of Darya Khan and its suburbs. The government has proved its people-friendliness by laying the foundation stone for the supply of gas. The Minister directed the officers of the department present on the spot to conduct a survey and report immediately.
#3 big step of FBR, electronic filing has been started
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started electronic filing of appeals from January 1, 2021.
According to a statement issued by the FBR, under Inland Revenue Rules, the first appeal is filed with the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (APPs).
The FBR seeks to automate all of its systems and facilitate taxpayers, the statement said. The convenience of filing appeals electronically is an important step in that direction.
An automated system for e-filing appeals will benefit both revenue and taxpayers.
