US returns 45 stolen artefacts to Pakistan, Foreign Office spokesman says.

Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry has said that the United States has handed over 45 stolen Gandhara-era artifacts to Pakistan. Among the antiquities returned by the United States are Gandhara-era Gautam Buddha statues and other decorative items.

The Foreign Office spokesman said that the United States would soon hand over six more stolen artefacts to Pakistan, which would receive the Pakistani consulate in the United States and deliver them to Pakistan.

 

Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry added that a ceremony was held at the Pakistani Consulate in the United States to return the stolen artefacts, which was attended by New York County District Attorney and Consul General Ayesha Ali.
