Vivo V11 Pro – Dual Engine Charging & Halo Full View Display!

The Vivo is launching its V11 Pro with some new technology that we have never seen in any other smartphone yet. Vivo V11 Pro is made to give some tough time to its major rival in China.

With new handy features and technological advancement, it seems that Vivo V11 Pro will easily beat the other Chinese devices. As always, Vivo bundles a good quality case and includes a good quality pre-fixed plastic screen protector.

Design:

Pick up the new Vivo V11 Pro and the first thing you notice is a sleek design. It is not just the looks, but the fact that it also packs a lot of interesting features which we will explain in detail.

Although the phone is big in size and weighs 156 gm, it is surprisingly light and not heavy. The body is curvy on the edges which give it the smoother finish.

The Vivo V11 Pro feels quite compact for a phone with a 6.4-inch screen. The phone looks elegant, feels slim and is very comfortable to operate. The almost full-view fascia with narrow bezels feels enchanting.

Display:

The Vivo V11 Pro has a good quality 6.4-inch AMOLED (19.5:9) screen with Full HD+ resolution. Colors pop nicely and don’t feel unnaturally oversaturated and, being AMOLED, contrast is excellent.

The Vivo V11 Pro comes with a noticeable screen size of 6.41 inches. It has a new kind of display which is called “The Halo Full Vision” display. This display is going to bring new power in the Vivo V11 Pro’s 6.4-inch display.

It will make the thing even more clear and bright as compared to the technology used in other running smartphones in the market.

You can say that the display will be best in the business because not a single brand has got that type of display.

Water-drop notch:

There is a lot to look forward to about the V11 Pro including the trendy Water-drop notch. This is the first V-series phone to get a water-drop notch with in-screen fingerprint option.

In-display fingerprint sensor:

The in-display fingerprint sensor is visible as soon as you will open the device and is highlighted with a circular display.

Vivo says its fourth generation in-display fingerprint sensor is faster and more reliable. The Face Unlock is fast and is also aided by an IR laser.

Once you set up the on-screen fingerprint sensor, all you need to do is press your finger down on the display and it will unlock the phone.

During our extensive use of the phone, the on-screen fingerprint recognizes the finger most of the time, but the key to it is placing your finger properly with a slight pressure on the screen.

Facial recognition:

The facial recognition feature works pretty fast, just raise the phone to the eye level and it is all done.

The response time is quite minimal and it works accurately. The Face Unlock consistency and performance is equally impressive in low light and even in pitch dark.

We can’t vouch for exactly how secure the face unlock is, but it doesn’t work when your eyes are closed, when you are looking away or when your face is partially covered. That should be good enough for most of us.

Battery:

The V11 Pro packs a 3400mAh battery which is non-removable. It is equipped with what Vivo calls the dual-engine charging.

This charges up the large 3400mAh battery quite quickly. In terms of battery life, we got over a day and a half of backup on our regular usage, which is good considering a 6.4-inch screen.

Fast charging:

Fast charging is the most demanding feature these days. Vivo V11 Pro gives us a fast charging adopter which charges 0% to 50% in just half an hour.

Dual Engine charging is introduced in the phone which is going to increase the speed of the charging speed of the phone. It will give the phone enough charge for a day long.

Performance:

The Octa-core Snapdragon 660 powered phone runs extremely smooth. You will get a problem playing demanding games or gunning our way through to the chicken dinner. Day-to-day performance and multi-tasking feel flawless too.

The software is Android 8.1 Oreo-based OS. The Snapdragon 660 AIE is a powerful chipset and the resulting performance didn’t leave us wanting for more.

Sensors:

Accelerometer, Compass, Fingerprint (under display), Gyro, Proximity

Colors:

Stream Blue, Neon Purple.

Headphone jack:

V11 Pro comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports dual sim.

The speakers and the charging port at the bottom are quite similar so nothing new on the button layout front.

What we find missing in the phone is the water and dust resistant body so you have to be extra careful on that front.

Camera:

The camera is an important and major highlight of the Vivo V11 Pro. There is no shutter lag on the rear camera.

Images shot outdoors show vivid colors, rich detail, and wide dynamic range. The V11 Pro camera indoor performance is also pretty impressive. You get rich colors and abundant details.

The front camera has a massive 25 MP super-high-resolution sensor. Pictures clicked during the day captures fine details along with good colors. It also supports a lot of options and different modes such as panorama, Doc, Professional, and AI Face Beauty.

V11 Pro is an absolute treat for selfie enthusiasts. Selfies clicked from the front camera have rich details and accurate colors. Metering is fine more often than not.

Every time you will open the camera to click pictures you will see AI Face beauty as the default mode.

The AI low light mode algorithm has been optimized. It takes multiple images at different exposures and combines them for enhancing brightness in low light conditions.

The videos recorded on the V11 are jerk free and you get options like the Slow motion and time lapse along with face beauty feature. Though one feature which we missed is the electronic stabilization.

$468

Vivo V11 Pro – Review

The Vivo V11 Pro tries its best to deliver everything a casual user seeks in a mid-range smartphone. It doesn’t have major cons.

The Vivo V11 Pro feels quite compact for a phone with a 6.4-inch screen. The phone looks elegant, feels slim and is very comfortable to operate.

By default, the whites were a tad bluish. With color temperature adjustment option turned on, the whites feel natural and the display is light on eyes.

You may also use ‘Eye-protection’ mode while reading. The water-drop notch allows V11 Pro to retain most of the status bar. In our personal opinion, it works better than a wide notch.

The color temperature adjustment toggle is a handy addition under display settings. Outdoor visibility is fine. Options like Always-on display add value too.

The software has room for improvement, but after gradual updates, it’s not difficult to live with. There are loads of customization options you can avail.

The Vivo V11 Pro feels quite compact for a phone with a 6.4-inch screen. We conclude that the Vivo V11 Pro is an excellent option for its price.

The phone looks elegant, is among rare few phones that offer good quality AMOLED screen, has an impressive set of front and rear cameras, delivers dependable performance, and has a long lasting battery.

The regular USB port at the bottom feels odd. Vivo should have used a Type-C port instead. Software design needs work but overall the Vivo V11 Pro offers a good mix of features and performance that cannot be ignored.
